Do you know someone from Buda who is making history both here and beyond? Someone who when you hear their name you think "oh, they ARE Buda!" Maybe they're the friendly face who's been serving up morning coffee for decades, the teacher who's inspired generations of students, or the volunteer who shows up first and leaves last at every community event. Tell us how they are making their mark and nominate them to be named the 2025 Buda Local Legend!

Our Legend will be celebrated in true Buda style at the Buda's Birthday Music Festival on April 5, 2025. Help us shine a spotlight on the people who make our community truly special:

PREVIOUS LOCAL LEGENDS

Clark has toured relentlessly for years including performances at the Chicago Blues Festival, European Blues Festivals, Ottawa and Toronto Blues Festivals, various festivals in Europe, Russia and Turkey. Along the way he has met up with old fans and friends and undoubtedly gained new ones everywhere he plays. The rest of the world is now in on what the city of Buda has known for decades: W.C. Clark, The Godfather of Blues, is an innovative and creative artist whose soulful singing and tasty guitar playing reach out from Buda, with soul, to all corners of the music-loving world.

Jim Hollis moved Buda 42 years ago when the population was less than 400. He served as the city Mayor in the 1980’s, has served as the President of the ESD Board for over 20 years, as an active member of the Buda Masonic Lodge, and given endless hours of service to his community in numerous organizations and government capacities. He knows the history of the area and all the old stories. He never hesitates in sharing his knowledge and absolutely never meets a stranger. He is still living at over 80 years old and remains active on his little ‘ranch’ here in Buda.
